After being outrightly rejected in the assembly election in four major states, Congress is in the search of a new face to the project as a PM candidate in the upcoming Lok Sabha election 2014. Chairman and Indian entrepreneur of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) Nandan Nilekani is one of the probable candidates. Here are the detailed profile, biography, personal information, educational qualifications, and Nandan Nilekani achievements.

After a successful career as CEO of Infosys, Dr. Manmohan Singh appointed Nandan Nilekani as Chairman of UIDAI, a post of Cabinet rank. Since Congressmen realize that there is no magic of Rahul Gandhi among the voters as it has been proved in the last assembly elections, Sonia Gandhi said that PM candidate for Congress would be declared soon.

It means Sonia, too, had realized that Congress needs some new face. Seeing the success of Arvind Kejriwal in the Delhi assembly election, Congress is like to project another IITian Nandan Nilekani, who not only has a clean image but also much qualified and comparatively young.

Nandan Nilekani as Prime Minister candidate of Indian National Congress in Lok Sabha 2014

In the so-called semi-final that is Assembly election 2013, it is obvious that Congress has been rejected, and there is no sign of any positive impact of Rahul Gandhi. Hence it may not be the right time to project him as Prime Minister. Further, the extraordinary performance of the Aam Admi Party led by Arvind Kejriwal also posted a message that people are in search of a fresh face with a clean image.

Some speculations have been revealed by Times of India and various other news sites that Congress is planning to project Nandan Nilekani as Prime Minister candidate of the party. He is well educated, able, and comparatively young and has all the characteristics to attract voters, especially the young ones. This can be the last trial of Congress to regain its faith in voters. However, we have seen how a great economist Dr. Manmohan Singh failed badly when entered politics. Will Nandan Nilekani will face the same fate, or he can really lift the image of Congress and India. Will Sonia Gandhi agree to it? Can Nandan Nilekani, if selected as PM candidate of Congress, combat the wave of Narendra Modi. Time will say, and we will be updating every bit of the Lok Sabha election 2014 updates.
