Adhar or UID is a unique identification authority of India issued by the Government. This Adhar card is the most authentic proof of identification and address in India and is accepted at any place where address and identification proof is required. Adhar card can never be duplicated or fake as it is based on biometric scanning by photograph, fingerprints of all 10 fingers, and iris.

In Karnataka, the State Government is responsible for issuing 12 digits unique identification number or Adhar card, and enrolment for the same was started from October 2010. Still, it was stopped on 12th Feb 2012 as per the instruction of UIDAI. Again it started in December 2012.
